Dear Coolhurst Member

Update 24th March – Closure of the Club.

The restrictions announced by the government last night require all outdoor and indoor leisure centres and sports courts within parks to close immediately. We believe that most tennis clubs that had not already closed in response to the previous restrictions have now closed their courts – although the new rules do not explicitly require private clubs to close courts.

Today we sought clarification from the LTA, who responded that while the new rules do not force us to close, we should close for reasons of caution. The LTA is in turn seeking urgent detailed guidance from Government on private courts such as ours.

We are therefore closing the tennis courts today. We hope members understand and support this position. We will update you again as soon as further information is available. These are difficult times, but the more effective the restrictions are, the shorter the time they will need to remain in force.

The LTA says it will update its website as its understanding of the position develops.
