Team Tennis at Coolhurst
Coolhurst has a very active programme of team tennis in the Slazenger Middlesex leagues with six mens and five ladies teams in the summer leagues. We also have teams competing in the winter and Veteran leagues.
Mens team overview from Stuart Hancock
Coolhurst is very excited to be fielding, for the first time, a 6th mens team in the Middlesex leagues for 2012. The club is in the enviable position of having attracted a number of new players of all standards. Being spoilt for choice and confidently able to start a new team is a sign of how healthy the membership is, with real potential for success at every level.
Without wanting to single out specific new members, the 1st squad and new captain Danny Bloomfield are delighted to welcome Rashaad Elder-Bush, Jeremy Holmes and Tariq Khalifa to the fold, and will be aiming to improve on their 5th place in the 2011 Premier division. The 2nd and 3rd teams both narrowly missed out on promotion to the Intermediate and 1st divisions, respectively. All teams will be competing hard to make progress up the divisions this time around, with a keen 7th squad of reserves waiting in the wings.
Ladies team overview from Fran Hearn
The ladies teams had their most successful year last year with the 1st team finishing 2nd in the premier division beating Cumberland and Globe on the way. The 2nd team gained promotion from the Intermediate to the premier division whilst the 3rd team gained promotion to the Intermediate division. The 4th team just missed out on promotion (one position!) and the 5th team were promoted from the 3rd to the 2nd division.
2012 is set to be an exciting season with our ladies teams competing in the highest divisions ever.
Team sessions will start in April so keep an eye out for information on the tennis notice boards in the clubhouse.
