First team match report

Redbridge - 14/11/2006

Verdict
The watching punters struggled to remember a victory of such epic proportions for the Coolhurst boys.  Make no mistake, Redbridge are a top quality outfit filled with current and ex professional players.  Roll on the Coolhurst juggernaut who now sit top of the league!

Tim Vail
Result: Won 3-0 (27-1)
Plus’s: Won 27-1, one outrageous nick.
Minus’s: Dropped a Point.
Overall: Completely stuffed Stuart Cowie out of sight and out of mind with some fine attacking squash and relentless volleying.  The Vole is looking stronger by the week and is starting to shed some of his hard earned gut.  One to watch.
Rating: 4/5

Nick Buckley
Result: Won 3-2
Plus’s: Kept his head to grind out a fine win against the talented Marcus Cowie.
Minus’s: Blew another 2-0 lead.
Overall: Pretty accomplished display from the youngster who looked to have more urgency about his game.  Rallied well despite some interruptions to the fluency of the game by his wily opponent who eventually unfortunately retired with a pulled calf muscle.  Brought home the points for the team to the relief of the home crowd with McGill toiling on the other court.
Rating: 3.5/5

Ally McGill
Result: Lost 1-3
Plus’s: Didn’t stop running, decent squash in the 3rd and 4th games.
Minus’s: Awful squash in the 1st and 2nd games, was given a shot playing lesson by the talented Jemmett.
Overall: A classic match between a man waiting to get out and a man who has well and truly come out.  McGill huffed and puffed against Jemmett but ultimately didn’t quite get close enough to have the Redbridge man worried. Some harsh words from Vail and some abuse of the English football team seemed to help but nick after nick (and some dodgy calls from the referee) broke the captain’s mettle.
Rating: 2.5/5

Simon Evans
Result: Won 3-0
Plus’s: Good tight squash, some unbelievable shots.
Minus’s: None to speak of.
Overall: The new man struts his way around the court to a fine victory over the big hitting Danny Weights.  Quickly realising that any cross-court would be thumped into the nick, Simon played a very tight, straight game moving his opponent around and invariably finishing the rally off with a thumping winner.  Looking stronger by the week, the top of the order are watching their backs.
Rating: 4.5/5

Peter Baird
Result: Lost 1-3
Plus’s: Volleys, moved opponent round well.
Minus’s: Boasts, going short too early, ran out of steam.
Overall:  Up against a tough opponent (to be expected against these guys), Baird also huffed and puffed though eventually blew his own house down running about a mile too far.  Unlucky to lose the first 9-10 then convincing in the 2nd with some fine squash the crowd had hopes for a fine victory but unfortunately the Coolhurst man just couldn’t keep up his frantic pace for the duration and was ground into submission.  More training required.
